Surge circuit breaker for protection of Type 2 AC SPD
SSD40S-40-230
Part Number 805114
-
SPD Specific Disconnectors (SSD) for short circuit protection of Type 2 AC surge protectors
-
Surge current withstand: 40 kA @ 8/20µs
-
Wide range of short circuit current protected
-
Reusable after switch triggered
-
Low rated tripping current with time-current characteristics for overcurrent coordination with upstream OCPD and safety disconnect in case of SPD failure
The SSD range has been especially designed to be associated with SPDs. These very specific devices with built-in GDT are able to conduct huge surge currents in rather small dimensions to protect Type 2 SPDs against harsh current circuit failures, furthermore, the coil in the SSD can cut off the minimum fault current.
In order to comply IEC 61643-11 standards, AC power SPD must be protected against short circuit failures: these specific SPD disconnectors must be installed in the SPD branch.
